To mark the 30th anniversary of the Winning Eleven / Pro Evolution Soccer series (now known as eFootball), Konami has introduced a special limited-time mode called Time Leap Trials.
This new mode features retro visuals inspired by the very first game in the franchise, World Soccer Winning Eleven for the original PlayStation, which was released in the West under the name Goal Storm.
In Time Leap Trials, players are challenged to score a goal against an AI opponent as quickly as possible, with various rewards and Medals given based on how fast the goal is scored.
“Depending on your recorded time, you will be awarded a Medal and Rewards to match,” the event’s description explains. “By completing all Challenges and collecting Medals of the same colour, you’ll also earn special Medal Rewards.
Once all Challenges are completed, an Extra Challenge becomes available, where goal times are ranked, and players receive Ranking Rewards based on their final placement. You can replay the challenge as many times as you like to improve your score!”
The mode is part of the newly launched Nostalgia Campaign, a celebration of the franchise’s legacy. The campaign also introduces special Epic Nostalgia player cards for legendary players like Roberto Baggio, Adriano, and Gerard Piqué, featuring retro-styled card art (though the in-game models remain modern).
Earlier in April, eFootball received a major update that added crossplay support and the ability to play against AI opponents in the formerly online-only eFootball League mode.
According to general producer Junichi Taya, this was intended to make the game more accessible to players who may not feel ready for online competition — with the hope that they’ll eventually transition to playing multiplayer matches.
