The creative chief of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, has released the first official gameplay footage of Ghostface from the Scream franchise, showcasing a duel with Johnny Cage. Unlike in the films where Ghostface’s identity changes, Mortal Kombat 1 presents the character as a versatile fighter whose backstory can be interpreted as anyone behind the mask, owing to the iconic voice-changing tool.
Ghostface will be available for Early Access players on November 19, with the full release scheduled for November 26. The character marks the 10th addition in Mortal Kombat 1’s lineup of downloadable content (DLC) and is the fourth to join Kombat Pack 2.
In the first Kombat Pack, NetherRealm introduced popular characters including Omni-Man from Image Comics, Quan Chi, Peacemaker from The Suicide Squad, Ermac, Homelander from The Boys, and Takeda Takahashi. Kombat Pack 2, meanwhile, has featured returning Mortal Kombat legends Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot. Ghostface stands as the first guest character in the new pack, with more high-profile additions on the way.
Following Ghostface, fans can look forward to the T-1000 from Terminator 2 and Conan the Barbarian, though their release dates remain unannounced.
