The Dota 2 7.40 patch launched on December 16 introduced a new hero called Largo, who is a frog bard that has strength as his main attribute and was created by Dota 2’s developers to be a great support character.
The patch also affected three heroes quite dramatically: Slark, Lone Druid and Treant Protector.
Slark’s Essence Shift has now been moved to the innate position, while Saltwater Shiv is a new ability that will automatically activate when an enemy is near him. It will steal movement speed and regeneration from the enemy.
Lone Druid’s bear has been treated as a separate hero and has its own talent tree. In addition, Lone Druid’s summoning ability is now an innate ability.
Treant Protector’s leech seed has become a passive ability that deals magic damage, roots an enemy and heals allies nearby.
The 7.40 Patch includes various changes to the landscape of Dota 2’s map, all items (including neutral items) and all heroes in Dota 2. For full details of the 7.40 Patch notes, check out the game’s official website.
