A Switch 2-optimized edition launches March 25, with existing Switch owners eligible for a complimentary upgrade.
According to Gameloft, the Switch 2 release will deliver enhanced frame rate performance. The current Switch build targets 30fps but routinely falls short of this benchmark.
Based on developer-provided gameplay captures, the Switch 2 edition appears to maintain the 30fps target while achieving far greater consistency.
Resolution improvements are also included. While the Switch version aims for 1080p in docked mode, dynamic scaling frequently reduces visual fidelity during intensive sequences.
Whether the Switch 2 edition will sustain 1080p with reduced scaling needs or pursue a higher native resolution remains unspecified.
Additional Switch 2 benefits include accelerated loading speeds and a doubled item cap of 6,000, up from the Switch version’s 3,000 limit.
The expanded item ceiling should facilitate smoother cross-progression, as other platform versions already support 6,000 items.
Disney Dreamlight Valley entered early access in September 2022 with plans for an eventual free-to-play transition.
Gameloft ultimately abandoned this model in favor of a premium release, minimizing reliance on intrusive monetization beyond optional seasonal cosmetics.
