David Grivel returns as game director of the Splinter Cell Remake

David Grivel was the Game Director for the Splinter Cell Remake, a project at Ubisoft that he worked on from November 2021 until he left Ubisoft in October 2022 for “a new adventure.” He has now returned to Ubisoft Toronto as their Game Director on the Splinter Cell Remake, which he announced on his LinkedIn profile.

“I’m extremely excited to say that I’m coming back to Ubisoft Toronto as the Game Director on the Splinter Cell Remake,” said David Grivel. “This is such a personal project and team to me! I can’t wait to work with this amazing team.”

David Grivel has also worked on games in the Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Assassin’s Creed Unity, and Far Cry 4, 5 and 6 franchises.

Ubisoft officially announced the Splinter Cell Remake in December 2021 and confirmed it is being created with the Snowdrop Engine in order to achieve high quality graphics and more advanced gameplay features such as dynamic lighting and shadows.

Ubisoft’s most recent public communication about the Splinter Cell Remake came in November of 2022 when they released concept art for the game, however, development has been relatively quiet since then. A job posting was made for someone to re-write the original story for a “modern audience”.

Recently, the original 2002 Splinter Cell was included in the GOG Preservation Program, allowing players to access and play this classic title on modern machines.
