On December 15, CS 2 broke the record for the highest number of concurrent players, with 1,740,261 people launching the game on that day.
The spike in interest was likely influenced by the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 final. In the decisive match, Team Spirit faced FaZe Clan. The Eastern European team emerged victorious with a score of 2-1, claiming their first major title.

Despite this achievement, the franchise record still belongs to CS:GO, which had 1,802,853 concurrent players in May 2023.
The Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 took place in China from November 30 to December 15, with teams competing for a prize pool of $1.25 million. The tournament’s MVP was Daniil “donk” Kryshkovets.
