On January 6, Valve released the first CS2 update of 2026, focusing on fixing a critical grenade-related bug.
The exploit surfaced on December 29, when dataminer Aquarius discovered a console command that allowed players to pick up grenades from anywhere on the map and throw them endlessly for 20 seconds. A demonstration of the bug was shown below.
Valve ultimately removed the pickup_groundweapon command, without explaining why it was accessible in matchmaking in the first place. The bug remained in the game for eight days, and alongside the fix, the developers traditionally improved localization files.
