Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind Tomb Raider, has announced the layoff of 17 employees. The company stated that the decision was made for structural optimization and will not affect ongoing projects.
The new Tomb Raider installment is being developed with Amazon as its publisher. So far, official details are limited to concept art featuring Lara Croft in her classic look, while the release date remains unknown.
Previously, Embracer Group, the parent company of Crystal Dynamics, initiated a large-scale restructuring, leading to studio closures and project cancellations.
In addition to the game, a Tomb Raider live-action series is in development. Rumors suggest that Sophie Turner, known for Game of Thrones, is being considered for the role of Lara Croft.
