The second season of Battlefield 6 has officially launched. Electronic Arts has rolled out a substantial update packed with fresh content aimed at bringing players back to the multiplayer shooter.
Season 2 introduces a range of new features, including the Contaminated map set at a NATO base in Germany, the limited-time VL-7 Strike mode featuring psychoactive gas mechanics, and a new Battle Royale experience called Synthesis, built around hazardous infected zones. Players also gain access to new weaponry and vehicles, such as the AH-6 Little Bird attack helicopter, the M121 A2 machine gun, the GRT-CPS semi-automatic rifle, and the VCR-2 assault rifle.
In addition, the update adds a new armored vehicle and expands the gadget lineup with the 9K38 IGLA surface-to-air missile system, the HTI-Mk2 reconnaissance device, and protective masks designed for operating in contaminated areas within Synthesis mode.
The updated Battle Pass offers a wide selection of new rewards, including cosmetic items, while extra content has also been prepared for the less popular Redsec mode.
It remains unclear whether Season 2 will fully restore the shooter’s popularity. However, peak concurrent players on Steam have already surpassed 70,000, compared to the previous typical range of 40,000–50,000.
