Apple has taken a major step into the gaming industry by acquiring a game development studio for the first time in its history. The studio in question is RAC7, known for the popular Apple Arcade title Sneaky Sasquatch.
Alongside the acquisition, it was revealed that during WWDC 2025, scheduled for June 9, Apple will announce a new gaming application. The app will serve as a centralized gaming hub within the Apple ecosystem, replacing Game Center. It will offer features such as game launching, achievements tracking, leaderboards, and social interaction.
The app is expected to come pre-installed on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV as part of the iOS 19 update, which is set for release in September 2025.
This move highlights Apple’s intention to become a more influential player in the gaming industry, offering both hardware and software solutions tailored for gamers around the world.
