The American team Rocket is at risk of being disqualified from the CS 2 RMR event following a significant incident during the tournament qualifiers. Details of the incident were brought to light by HLTV.
A member of the Rocket team revealed that their coach, Alexander “Psycho” Zlobin, was observed monitoring players’ point-of-view cameras and actively communicating with the team during matches, contravening Valve’s rules. According to the player, the team ceased such actions only after their opponents pointed it out.
Another player from Rocket disclosed that their team was not the sole participant engaging in such rule violations. These revelations were substantiated by journalists from Dust2.us, citing their own sources. This raises potential concerns about the overall fairness of the entire qualification tournament.
Coach Psycho gained notoriety within the community during the Akuma scandal in 2021, where the Ukrainian team secured several sensational victories in an RMR event, leading to allegations of cheating. Subsequently, ESIC banned the former sniper and organization leader.
The Rocket team’s situation is further complicated by the ban of Damian “EMIYA” Bulvar, who received a two-year ban on FACEIT for fraudulent activities. EMIYA’s team has already faced disqualification from ESL Challenger League Season 47 and the closed qualification for ESL Challenger at DreamHack Melbourne 2024.
EMIYA had previously encountered a FACEIT ban and attempted to appeal the decision, but the appeal was rejected. Following the conclusion of the two-year ban, he was permitted to return in March 2023.
HLTV journalists have sought comments from EMIYA and PGL, but as of now, no responses have been received. Valve, the company overseeing CS 2, has also refrained from commenting on the situation. The American RMR is slated to commence on March 1, with Rocket listed as one of the participants.
