Twitch is introducing a new penalty system for streamers caught artificially inflating their viewer counts

Twitch is introducing a new penalty system for streamers caught artificially inflating their viewer counts. CEO Dan Clancy announced that the platform plans to limit concurrent viewer numbers on channels that repeatedly use third-party services to boost their statistics.

The decision comes after ongoing discussions within the streaming community about the growing issue of viewbotting.

Under the new policy, if Twitch detects the use of bots, the affected channel will face a temporary cap on concurrent viewers. The limit will be determined based on the channel’s historical traffic data before bot activity was detected. Repeat offenders will receive longer penalties over time.

Twitch also confirmed that it will not publicly disclose the names of punished streamers or specify the exact duration of the sanctions.
