According to insiders, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe is currently targeting a release during the 2027 holiday season. Despite the departure of creative director Clint Hocking, the project is reportedly still considered a high priority within Ubisoft. Development is said to be led by Ubisoft Montreal, which has helped maintain production stability and reportedly increased interest from other developers looking to join the team.
Insider Tom Henderson shared additional story details in a recent episode of the Insider Gaming Podcast. According to him, the narrative will only partially focus on the witchcraft themes surrounding the new protagonist, Elsa. Around the midpoint of the game, Ezio Auditore da Firenze is rumored to appear and take on a mentorship role, teaching her the ways of the Assassins and other key skills.

It is also claimed that the series’ combat system has been completely overhauled. Henderson stated that the developers brought in professional acrobats for motion capture, suggesting that battles will place a strong emphasis on agility and acrobatic movement. He added that a holiday 2027 launch window makes sense, given the franchise’s tradition of November releases. This could indicate an official announcement later this year or in early 2027.
Ubisoft has not provided any official details so far. What is known is that the game will not follow an RPG format. Rumors describe Codename Hexe as a more linear experience with select open-world elements and potentially the darkest tone in the franchise’s history.
