The RPG Avowed has officially launched on PlayStation 5 nearly a year after its original debut. Alongside its arrival on Sony’s console, the game received a major Anniversary Update, which is also available for players on Xbox Series and PC.
Developed by Obsidian Entertainment and originally released in February 2025 on Xbox Series X|S and PC under Xbox Game Studios, the project is now expanding its reach with a PS5 release. The move aligns with Microsoft’s evolving strategy of bringing select first-party titles to additional platforms.
The PS5 version includes all previously released patches and improvements. The highlight is a free Anniversary Update for all platforms, introducing New Game+, which lets players start a fresh playthrough while keeping their progress, gear, and abilities. The update also expands the character creator with three new playable races. Additional features include a Photo Mode, more flexible difficulty settings, new weapons, and a range of technical fixes.
Although Avowed launched to generally positive reviews, it was somewhat overshadowed by other major releases in 2025. The PS5 debut offers the game a fresh opportunity to connect with a broader audience that may have missed it the first time around.
