SEGA revealed in its third-quarter financial report plans to launch four major titles based on flagship IPs by March 2027. The report spans October through December 2025 and provides projections for the upcoming fiscal year (April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027).
The document states the company will “introduce four major new releases centered on core franchises.” SEGA also seeks to optimize sales performance for its titles and further its transmedia initiatives by extending gaming properties into film, television, and literature.
Though no specific franchises were disclosed, the mention of “major new releases from key franchises” hints at a potential Sonic title arriving within this window.
SEGA recently launched Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, with Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage for Switch 2 currently the only game with a confirmed date of March 26. Other revealed projects lacking release windows include Persona 4 Revival, Stranger than Heaven, Total War: Warhammer 40,000, and Total War: Medieval 3.
The financial report also verifies ongoing development of new installments in established franchises such as Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, and Alien: Isolation. It’s uncertain which projects constitute “major new titles” or which will arrive before March 2027.
SEGA emphasized its commitment to transmedia growth and brand licensing. Beyond The Angry Birds Movie 3 (December 2026) and the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (March 2027), the company is developing film and television projects based on Golden Axe, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Eternal Champions, The House of the Dead, and OutRun.
