AMD suggests the next-generation Xbox could arrive as early as next year

During Tuesday’s earnings call, CEO Lisa Su revealed that AMD’s work on Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox system-on-chip is “progressing well to support a launch in 2027.”

Though the statement stops short of officially confirming a 2027 release, it signals Microsoft could be positioned for a near-term launch window.

Neither Sony nor Microsoft has disclosed detailed next-generation console roadmaps, though both have acknowledged AMD partnerships for their future hardware.

Industry sources suggest both platforms could arrive in 2027, though at least one market analyst anticipates PlayStation 6 may debut later than prevailing forecasts indicate, citing multiple contributing factors.

In October, tech content creator Moore’s Law is Dead published footage allegedly showing the primary processor for Microsoft’s next console, claiming the company envisions a hybrid platform capable of accessing both Xbox Store titles and PC games from alternative storefronts.

That same month, Xbox president Sarah Bond hinted the upcoming console would reflect design philosophy present in the recently launched Asus ROG Xbox Ally handhelds.

“Well, I can tell you you’re right, that the next-gen console is going to be a very premium, very high-end curated experience,” Bond told Mashable. “You’re starting to see some of the thinking that we have in this handheld, but I don’t want to give it all away.”
