In League of Legends, players will be able to move using the WASD keys

Riot Games has revealed that League of Legends will gain the ability to use WASD keys for movement with the 25.24 patch on December 3. This feature was originally included in the League of Legends Public Beta Environment (PBE) where it was subjected to testing by players who provided feedback identifying bugs and issues related to the feature.

As well as allowing players to use WASD keys to move their champions, players will also have the option to move at 45-degree angles only by pressing one of the keys. Riot Games will be rolling out WASD movement functionality gradually, starting with normal non-ranked game modes (excluding normal drafts) before it enters ranked game modes.

Only after the functionality has been completely tested and verified to be free of major bugs and to have no effect on the balance of the game will it be introduced into ranked games.

Players will have the option to freely move the game’s camera temporarily by holding down the mouse wheel button, allowing them to observe and react to enemy movements and set up for flanking or ambushing their opponents. Once released, the camera will automatically return to its original position.

In addition to introducing WASD functionality, Riot Games also discussed plans to reduce player skill imbalances in ranked games and reduce the length of queues.
