Insider Tom Henderson released an update today on the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. He believes that the game is scheduled to be released in January 16th, 2026 with Ubisoft planning to announce the release date at The Game Awards in December of 2025.
Another insider, NateTheHate, has doubts about this, saying that it doesn’t seem that the remake will even be shown at the event, even though Ubisoft previously submitted an official teaser (now deleted) of an upcoming announcement. After this teaser was released, many assumed that the game would be quietly released like was done by Bethesda in their surprise release of Oblivion Remastered. If this were the case, it would be highly unusual for Ubisoft which lends more credit to Henderson’s statements.
The Game Awards are scheduled to occur on December 12th, 2025, so we will soon find out which sources were correct.
Development of the remake has since been given to Ubisoft Montreal after the original version by Ubisoft’s Indian studio did not meet expectations. The quality of the first trailer received such criticism from fans that it was ultimately taken down from all official channels.
