At the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, the game practically “broke” Steam and other stores, and within days, players started sharing discoveries of hidden items. One of these is the Reaper Crest — an unusual but highly useful tool.
What Reaper Crest does:
- Boosts Hornet’s attacks but noticeably slows them down, affecting standard strikes and downward attacks.
- The main bonus: it greatly increases silk generation, allowing more frequent use of abilities and healing. This gives a huge advantage in boss fights.
- For platforming sections, it’s better to unequip the crest — slower attacks can hinder progression there.
Where to find it: after completing the trial in the Reaper Chapel in Greymoor.
Additionally, players discovered the Wanderer Crest, which brings back a familiar move from the first game: Hornet gains a downward attack instead of the diagonal strike. This makes the game feel more familiar to veterans.
How to get Wanderer Crest:
- Complete a quest after defeating the Bell Beast.
- Have a Simple Key, purchasable in Bonebottom.
- Unlock the path to Wormways west of Mosshome, where the item awaits.
In the end, both crests significantly change the style of Hollow Knight: Silksong: one makes Hornet more “tank-like,” allowing frequent healing and abilities, while the other restores old movement mechanics, adding a nostalgic touch for fans of the first game.
