Polish studio Reikon Games, best known for the cyberpunk action title Ruiner, has released its new sci-fi shooter Metal Eden on PC and consoles. The game has already been dubbed a mix of Doom and Ghostrunner, quickly securing 95% positive reviews on Steam.
In Metal Eden, players step into a dystopian world overrun by machine armies. The core mechanic revolves around harvesting enemy energy cores, which can be thrown as grenades or absorbed to heal and deliver powerful armor-breaking strikes. The story unfolds through the voice of an AI known as the Architect, guiding players across the industrial planet Mobius.
The gameplay draws heavy comparisons to Doom Eternal, enhanced with fast-paced parkour reminiscent of Ghostrunner and Titanfall. Protagonist Aska relies on wall-running, a jetpack, and a classic arsenal — shotguns, rifles, and pistols — all featuring their own upgrade trees alongside character progression.
