Nintendo’s most recent financial report, which includes Switch 2 sales for the first time, was released for the quarter that ended on June 30.
With 5.82 million Switch 2 units sold in June alone, the console’s launch set a new record. Mario Kart World, the flagship launch title, sold 5.63 million copies, almost matching the console’s sales, and the total number of games sold reached 8.67 million.
Mario Kart World had the second-biggest debut in the series, right behind Mario Kart Wii, despite having a small initial install base. Nintendo data indicates that many players bought the console and the game separately, resulting in a 96.7% attach rate, even though the game was part of some hardware bundles.

In contrast, during its first four weeks of release, the PlayStation 5 shipped 3.4 million units.
Nintendo sold 0.98 million original Switch consoles in addition to the Switch 2, increasing its total sales to 153.1 million and edging closer to its all-time best-selling system, the Nintendo DS (154 million).
Nintendo has maintained its financial projection of selling 15 million Switch 2 units by March 2026, despite the new generation’s impressive start.
