Sony is reportedly developing a portable console with performance between Xbox Series S and PS5 — Insider

According to insider Moore’s Law is Dead, Sony is working on a new portable PlayStation console that will offer performance levels somewhere between the Xbox Series S and the PlayStation 5. Unlike the PlayStation Portal, this device is expected to be a fully functional standalone console, not just a streaming accessory.

The project is said to be in the early stages of development, with a potential release still several years away. The console will reportedly run games natively rather than via cloud streaming, and may feature AMD chips based on Zen 4 or Zen 5 architectures, along with RDNA-based graphics.

If this information proves accurate, Sony could be making a return to the handheld console market, positioning itself as a competitor to the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The project has not yet been officially announced.
