The International 2025: Group Stage to Follow Swiss System

Tournament organizer Valve has announced that the group stage of The International 2025 will be played using the Swiss system. This change will give teams more opportunities to prove themselves throughout the competition.

The Swiss system format means that teams will play several rounds, facing opponents with similar records. Teams that secure three wins will advance to the playoffs, while those with three losses will be eliminated from the tournament.

The International 2025 is set to take place in the fall. Valve has yet to reveal the exact dates and location of the event.
