Clovers Studio Open to Both Sequels and Original IPs, Says Kamiya

Hideki Kamiya, who left PlatinumGames a year and a half ago, has clarified that his new company, Clovers Studio, is not solely focused on sequels and spiritual successors.

In an interview with GameSpark, Kamiya and fellow co-founder Kento Koyama discussed the studio’s approach to game development. Koyama emphasized that Clovers Studio will not limit itself to any single type of project, keeping the door open for sequels, spiritual successors, or entirely new IPs.

Kamiya echoed this sentiment, stating that the studio’s main priority is creating interesting games, regardless of whether they are based on existing franchises. While Clovers Studio is currently working on a project tied to Kamiya’s past work, he reassured fans that this is not an indication of the studio’s long-term direction.

“We’re grateful for the attention, but just because our first game is based on an existing IP, it doesn’t mean that’s all we will do,” Kamiya said.

Clovers Studio has yet to announce its first title, but expectations are high given Kamiya’s past work on Bayonetta, Viewtiful Joe, and The Wonderful 101.
