Square Enix removes Final Fantasy game from iOS due to unresolved DLC bug

Square Enix has officially discontinued the iOS version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered after being unable to resolve a critical DLC bug.

Originally released in August 2020 for PS4, Switch, iOS, and Android, the remastered edition of the 2003 GameCube classic faced an issue where players who purchased DLC content on iOS lost access to it due to changes in the in-app purchase model. However, since the full game on iOS was unlocked via an in-app purchase, the bug effectively made the entire game inaccessible on Apple devices.

In an official statement, Square Enix admitted they were unable to fix the issue and announced the end of support for the iOS version.

Players who purchased in-app content in January 2024 or later are eligible for refunds, but those who bought the game earlier will not receive compensation. Meanwhile, PS4, Switch, and Android versions remain unaffected and will continue to operate as usual.
