Reddit users recently spotted a brief update to the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Steam listing, which revealed details about the game’s first expansion, Claws of Awaji, before the information was promptly removed.
According to the leaked update, the DLC will include a new explorable area, a new weapon type (the Bō), and more than 10 hours of additional gameplay content.
The timing of this accidental reveal aligns with Ubisoft’s announcement of a second delay for the game. Originally slated for November 2024, the release was first postponed to February 2025 and has now been pushed further to March 20, 2025.
Ubisoft stated that the additional time is essential for implementing player feedback and ensuring the game launches to high standards.
“This extra development time will allow us to better incorporate the feedback gathered over the past three months and create the best conditions for launch by continuing to engage closely with the increasingly supportive Assassin’s Creed community,” the company said.
This second delay contrasts with Ubisoft’s earlier commitment to avoiding further postponements. When announcing the first delay, the studio revealed a shift away from its traditional season pass model, the cancellation of early access, and the inclusion of the first expansion for free for players who pre-ordered the game.
