Chinese esports organization Azure Ray has announced a temporary departure from Dota 2, confirming rumors of the team’s disbandment. The announcement, made on the team’s official Weibo page, explained that the decision was due to unsatisfactory tournament results and roster issues. Azure Ray also expressed gratitude to fans for their support. It remains unknown when the organization will return to Dota 2.
According to Liquipedia, Azure Ray was set to compete in the closed qualifiers for ESL One Bangkok 2024. However, at the time of publication, tournament organizers had not disclosed which teams received invites to the qualifiers.
Founded in the spring of 2023, Azure Ray has already achieved notable success, winning ESL One Kuala Lumpur, placing fourth at The International 2023, and performing well at other tournaments.
