Lollipop Chainsaw RePop Remaster: Details and Changes

Dragami Games has announced that the upcoming remaster Lollipop Chainsaw RePop will feature two modes: Original Mode and RePop Mode. Original Mode will replicate the game as it was released in 2012 on Xbox 360 and PS3, while RePop Mode will be less violent and include pop-art damage effects.

Following news that Original Mode will not remain entirely unchanged, Dragami Games founder and game producer Yoshimi Yasuda took to X to reassure players that the changes are not a form of censorship.

“Original Mode is a mode that reproduces the same bloody scenes, cut scene direction, character design, animation, comic-style character introductions, costumes, achievements, etc., as the original version,” Yasuda said. “For this original mode, which we submitted for approval, there were no requests for revisions from any of the [platform holders]. This is as I explained earlier.”

Yasuda also detailed the changes made to Original Mode to make the game feel more like a modern action title. These include adjustments to attack power, movement speed, camera movement range, combo input timing, and initial combo skills. Other changes include the number of remaining shots in the blaster, alterations to Nick’s special moves, the addition of an option to automate QTEs, changes to the ranking mode to a time attack that covers all stages, modifications to the item shop lineup, price adjustments, the addition of a chain attack system, improvements in image quality, resolution, FPS, and the addition of Yukari Tamura’s voice.

Original Mode also includes bug fixes and details overlooked in the original release, such as chainsaw marks on walls and roads. Yasuda mentioned that a Day 1 patch has been requested to fix bugs and enhance the quality of the ranking mode.

The release date for Lollipop Chainsaw RePop has been moved up by two weeks, with the new release date set for September 12 in the West, replacing the previously announced date of September 25.
